EXPOS A PARIS
Giorgio de Chirico, la Fabrique des rêves au Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris: une rétrospective de l'oeuvre de l'artiste italien et un regard contemporain sur sa mythographie fantastique (13 février-24 mai).
Le Grand monde d'Andy Warhol aux Galeries nationales du Grand Palais: le portrait chez cette figure centrale du pop art, en 250 oeuvres (18 mars - 13 juillet).
La Maison Rouge se penche, elle, sur la production télévisuelle d'Andy Warhol, avec Warhol TV (18 février - 3 mai).
Une image peut en cacher une autre. De Corot à l'art moderne, souvenirs et variations, au musée des Beaux-Arts de Reims: une exposition qui confronte le grand paysagiste du XIXe avec une série de peintre modernes qui le considéraient comme leur maître, Cézanne, Renoir et autres. Une exposition déjà présentée par le Louvre au Japon (20 février - 24 mai).
Matisse parmi les siens au Musée Matisse du Cateau-Cambrésis (Nord): ou comment l'oeuvre de Matisse a été assimilée par les abstraits américains et ses effets en retour sur les artistes européens. Avec des oeuvres de Matisse, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Sam Francis, Ellsworth Kelly, Simon Hantaï, Raymond Hains, Morris Louis, Frank Stella, Daniel Buren, Blinky Palermo, François Rouan, Richard Tuttle, Claude Viallat et Jacques Villeglé (15 mars - 14 juin).
Gerhard Richter au musée de Grenoble: pour la première fois sont exposées en France toutes les oeuvres de Richter conservées dans les collections publiques françaises. Le peintre allemand est reconnu aujourd'hui comme un artiste majeur (7 mars - 1er juin).
Hypnos, Une histoire visuelle de l'inconscient, 1900-1949 au Musée de l'Hospice Comtesse de Lille (Musée d'art moderne de Lille Métropole hors les murs), avec des oeuvres d'une centaine d'artistes (14 mars - 11 juillet).

Une grande reine égyptienne sort de terre

Les services archéologiques viennent de découvrir dans la nécropole de Saqqarah, la dépouille de la momie de Sechséchet, mère du pharaon Téti ayant régné 2 000 ans avant notre ère.

L'Égypte antique n'a pas fini de dévoiler tous ses secrets. Il aura fallu plusieurs années de fouille pour mettre au jour une nouvelle découverte : la pyramide de la reine Sechséchet, mère du pharaon Téti, premier roi de la VIe dynastie de l'Ancien Empire. Vieille de 4 300 ans, la pyramide de cette reine encore peu connue se situe dans la célèbre nécropole de Saqqarah, à une vingtaine de kilomètres au sud du Caire. C'est dans cette immense nécropole, utilisée de manière quasi continue jusqu'à l'époque romaine, que fut édifiée par l'architecte Imhotep la fameuse pyramide à degrés du roi Djeser, vers 2 700 avant J.-C.
«C'est une découverte de taille car il s'agit de la pyramide secondaire la mieux conservée du site de Saqqarah, a expliqué Zahi Hawass, le chef du Conseil supérieur des antiquités égyptiennes (CSAE) qui a conduit la fouille. J'étais à la recherche de cette nécropole depuis longtemps. Des pyramides découvertes par le passé dans cette région abritent les restes des deux épouses de Téti : Khouit et Ipout. Mais il nous manquait encore celle de la reine-mère, Sechséchet. C'est rare de découvrir des pyramides dotées d'une superstructure. Cette nouvelle pyramide est construite à cinq mètres de hauteur au-dessus du terrain de base.» Particulièrement bien conservée, celle-ci devait avoir, à l'origine, d'après l'angle d'inclinaison, une hauteur d'une quinzaine de mètres. Elle a gardé en partie son revêtement de calcaire blanc provenant des carrières de Tura, qui ont servi à l'époque aux travaux des nécropoles de Saqqarah et de Gizeh. Les vestiges du temple funéraire ont également été dégagés.
C'est la 118e pyramide découverte en Égypte
Mère du pharaon Téti qui a régné de 2323 à 2291 avant Jésus-Christ, la reine Sechséchet est surtout connue pour ses problèmes d'alopécie. Un papyrus médical qui remonte au Nouvel Empire raconte que celle-ci avait demandé à ses médecins de mettre au point un remède contre la chute des cheveux. L'état actuel des connaissances donne peu d'éléments sur le rôle politique de Sechséchet. À l'inverse d'autres reines égyptiennes qui se sont illustrées par leur tactique politique et leur influence au cœur du pouvoir, telle Hétep-Hérès, mère de Kheops, grand pharaon de l'Ancien Empire.
Les investigations des archéologues se poursuivent sur le site de la pyramide de Sechséchet, pour confirmer l'identification par des inscriptions, même si la chambre funéraire a vraisemblablement été pillée depuis longtemps ; un puits creusé par les voleurs ayant été repéré au sommet de la structure. C'est la 118e pyramide découverte en Égypte et la douzième pyramide de reine de l'Ancien Empire à Saqqarah. Seulement un tiers du site a été fouillé.
En 2002, la pyramide d'Ankhesenpepi II, épouse de Pépi Ier , le fils et successeur de Téti Ier, est sortie de terre. Cette nouvelle découverte de la momie de Sechséchet est un maillon de plus dans la riche histoire de l'Ancien Empire d'Égypte.

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen 160 jaar !

In 2009 viert het museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam zijn 160-jarig bestaan. In het kader van dit jubileumjaar wordt vanaf 17 januari voor het eerst een selectie van 150 wereldbefaamde tekeningen en prenten gecombineerd met ruim 400 schilderijen, 150 sculpturen en 700 gebruiksvoorwerpen en designobjecten.

Het prentenkabinet van het museum omvat ruim 80.000 kunstwerken en behoort tot de belangrijkste van de wereld.
Collectie Eén en Collectie Twee
Twee jaar geleden opende het museum De Collectie Eén, waarin de nadruk lag op de chronologie. Met De Collectie Twee brengt het museum nu zijn grootste en tegelijkertijd minst zichtbare verzameling voor het voetlicht. Vanwege de kwetsbaarheid van het papier worden deze kunstwerken zelden getoond aan het publiek.
De Collectie Twee koppelt de tekeningen en prenten aan schilderijen, sculpturen en gebruiksvoorwerpen uit dezelfde tijd. De functionele relaties tussen de verschillende kunstvormen worden benadrukt. Het publiek krijgt zo inzicht in de betekenis, de context en de ontstaansgeschiedenis van de kunstwerken.
Hoogtepunten
De tentoonstelling De Collectie Twee volgt in grote lijnen de chronologie. Enkele hoogtepunten uit de kunstgeschiedenis krijgen bijzondere aandacht. De zwaartepunten binnen de schilderkunst liggen bij Rembrandt, Rubens en de surrealisten.
Er zijn prominente tekeningen te zien van Dürer, Michelangelo, Fra Bartolommeo, Rubens, Piranesi, Boucher en Cézanne. In de presentatie van gebruiksvoorwerpen spreken de tafelcultuur uit de renaissance, het rijke 17de-eeuwse burgerinterieur, de modernistische vormgeving uit in het interbellum en het hedendaagse design het meest tot de verbeelding.
De moderne kunst begint bij de Nederlandse romantiek en eindigt met de kunst van het interbellum. Hoogtepunten in dit deel van het circuit zijn het Franse impressionisme en de kunst op papier rond 1900, met als bijzondere focus het in 2007 verworven schoorsteenstuk van Dijsselhof.
Klassieke iconen van onder anderen Magritte, Dalí en Kokoschka worden gecombineerd met recente aanwinsten van Tanguy, Cornell en Beckmann.

L'architecte Cesar Pelli voit enfin rouge

La construction par l'architecte Cesar Pelli d'un immeuble de bureaux à la façade entièrement rouge, baptisé le Red Building, se poursuit à Los Angeles (Californie), comme prévu en dépit de la crise immobilière. L'architecte argentin, âgé de 82 ans, qui vit dans le Connecticut, est venu en personne réceptionner les carreaux de céramique rouge écarlate fabriqués en Chine, dont il habille le troisième bâtiment du Pacific Design Center, sur Melrose avenue, dans le quartier de West Hollywood. "Je voulais voir ce que donnait le rouge à côté du bleu et du vert. Ça va être beau au coucher du soleil !", explique l'architecte, connu pour les Petronas Towers de Kuala Lumpur(Malaisie) et dont le cabinet, Pelli Clarke Pelli, construit un peu partout dans le monde. "Il nous a fallu presque trente ans entre le premier et le troisième bâtiment !", ajoute-t-il, ravi de pouvoir enfin parachever sa vision d'un jardin d'immeubles-sculptures à la peau de verre coloré, bleu, vert et rouge. Son premier bâtiment bleu sur Melrose Avenue, surnommé "la baleine bleue", a été achevé en 1975, et le Green Building (vert), en 1988. Et cette longue attente pour arriver au rouge. "De toute façon, le rouge n'aurait pas été possible dans les années 1970, parce qu'il aurait été associé aux problèmes de la guerre froide, et on l'aurait perçu comme un bâtiment... "communiste" !, dit-il en riant. La réaction publique aurait été forte. Mais, aujourd'hui, le rouge est redevenu une jolie couleur."

Et la fabrication du verre rouge a été suspendue pendant longtemps, à cause de la toxicité du cadmium. "Nous n'utilisons pas de pigments, mais de la céramique frittée, une technique millénaire développée au Moyen-Orient, qu'on voit sur les carreaux d'Ispahan ou en Assyrie, qui donne une couleur si intense." Enfin, depuis les bâtiments bleu et vert, les normes de rendement énergétique aussi ont changé, et exigent un double vitrage, "plus difficile esthétiquement, parce qu'il y a deux couches de verre et un joint", explique l'architecte. La ville de Los Angeles est-elle prête pour son immeuble de bureaux tout rouge ? "Déjà le Blue Building avait fait scandale !", se souvient Cesar Pelli. Le Red Building, dont l'ouverture est annoncée en 2010, est un immeuble de deux tours de six et huit étages, au profil incurvé et effilé. En tout 38 000 m2 de bureaux avec vue sur le damier de la ville et les collines d'Hollywood. Le Pacific Design Center a été conçu pour abriter les showrooms pour décorateurs et designers contemporains. Le projet de son nouveau promoteur, Charles Cohen, est d'en faire un complexe dynamique ouvert au public, en offrant un vrai parking, une piazza conviviale avec cafés, restaurants, à deux pas de l'annexe du musée d'art contemporain MOCA.

En 2008 le Musée parisien a connu une fréquentation de 8,5 millions de visiteurs

Ils n'étaient que 8,3 millions en 2007. Les chiffres de 2008 continuent à placer le Louvre au premier rang de la fréquentation des grands musées dans le monde.L'an passé, le Louvre a présenté 15 expositions, parmi lesquelles Babylone (300.000 visiteurs) et Mantegna (330.000). Les jeunes de moins de 26 ans ont représenté près de 40% des visiteurs.
2,5 millions de personnes ont par ailleurs visité les expositions organisées par le Louvre dans le monde, dont 580.000 au Japon, près de 800.000 aux Etats-Unis (Indianapolis, Seattle, Oklahoma City, Atlanta), 100.000 à Pékin (Chine).Le musée Delacroix, qui dépend du Louvre a, lui, reçu plus de 99.000 visiteurs (38.000 en 2007). 9,6 millions d'internautes se sont eux rendus sur le site du musée.
D'autre part, le taux de satisfaction du public s'est élevé à 97% grâce notamment au lancement d'un guide multimedia en huit langues, ajoute le Louvre, qui met l'accent sur le renforcement de la qualité d'accueil.

Ateneum Art Museum to host a grand exhibition of Picasso in autumn 2009

In autumn 2009, Ateneum Art Museum will open a unique, extensive exhibition of the work of Pablo Picasso. All phases of the artist's production are comprehensively presented in this exhibition featuring some two hundred works, all of them coming to Ateneum from the collections of the Musée National Picasso in Paris. Before arriving at Ateneum, these collections have been on view e.g. at the Reina Sofia in Madrid and the National Art Centre in Tokyo. After Ateneum, this exhibition will be seen in e.g. Hamburg. Helsinki is the only Scandinavian city hosting this Picasso exhibition. The exhibition at Ateneum will be curated by Anne Baldassari, Director of the Musée National Picasso in Paris. The museum has an exceptionally extensive collection of works by Picasso. The museum was founded after the artist's death, following an agreement between the State of France and Picasso's heirs. A large collection of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings and prints was transferred to the State of France. Later on, a bequest made by Picasso's wife was added to the collection. The collection of the Musée National Picasso is especially remarkable because of the fact that Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) himself held on to those of his works he thought were the most significant. The museum also houses Picasso's personal archives and photograph collection, making it an important research centre. The premises of the museum in Paris are currently being renovated, and the collection is touring several international museums until the renovation is complete.

Décés de la muse du sculpteur Maillol

La galeriste Dina Vierny, 89 ans, muse du sculpteur Aristide Maillol dans les années 1930, est décédée à Paris

Personnalité marquante du monde des arts, elle avait créé en 1995 le musée Maillol à Paris pour perpétuer l'oeuvre de l'artiste d'origine catalane.Elle a notamment servi de modèle au sculpteur pour une série d'une vingtaine de statues exposées depuis plus de 40 ans dans le Jardin des Tuileries à Paris.
Née en 1919 à Kichinev en Moldavie, Dina Vierny quitte l'URSS de Staline en 1925 avec sa famille, d'origine juive, pour s'installer en France.Encore lycéenne, elle est remarquée à l'âge de 15 ans par le sculpteur, alors âgé de 73 ans, qui lui propose de poser pour lui. Leur collaboration durera de 1935 à 1944, à la mort de l'artiste dans un accident de voiture.Maillol se remettra même à la peinture et réalisera plusieurs portraits d'elle. "C'était un être totalement à part, toujours de bonne humeur, confiait-elle. On se voyait tout le temps et c'était l'amusement au quotidien".Jeune femme potelée aux longs cheveux noirs, Dina Vierny fréquente alors le groupe surréaliste, se noue d'amitié avec André Breton, et chante avec le groupe "Octobre" créé par Jacques Prévert dans la ferveur du Front populaire.Sous l'occupation, elle rejoint un réseau de Résistance qui aide lesantifascistes à passer en Espagne. Pour la protéger, Maillol prêtera alors son modèle à ses amis peintres Raoul Dufy, Henri Matisse et Pierre Bonnard.A la mort de l'artiste, elle ouvre une galerie d'art dans le quartierSaint-Germain. La muse devient alors une galeriste et collectionneuse avisée.Elle se passionne pour les peintres abstraits comme Kandinsky et Poliakoff et défend les artistes non officiels de l'ancienne URSS. En 1963, Dina Vierny fait don à l'Etat de l'oeuvre monumentale de Maillol, qui sera exposée aux Tuileries un an plus tard.

New book brings rarely seen master drawings into the light

English art is poorly represented in Danish museums due to the strained relations between the two countries in the past. The Collection of Prints and Drawings at Statens Museum for Kunst is an exception to this rule, however. A new, comprehensive and fully illustrated book maps out 350 years of English master drawings in the Collection of Prints and Drawings. This has been an overlooked chapter in the Museum’s collections, as hardly anybody, including English specialists, has known about it before. Artists like Henry Fuseli, John Constable, Edward Burne-Jones and Henry Moore are indisputable heavyweights in the history of British art, but very few people at all until now have been cognizant of the fact that they are represented with excellent drawings in the Collection of Prints and Drawings at Statens Museum for Kunst, along with other important English artists. Master drawings from the storeroom Statens Museum for Kunst’s collection of English drawings is now presented in its entirety for the first time in a large fully-illustrated publication in English. The great majority of the 121 drawings have been hidden away in light-proof boxes in the storerooms of the Museum, as art works on paper are extremely sensitive to light. There has been no particular interest in these works, not even in expert circles, despite their considerable artistic value. Danish art historians have been almost totally focused on art from the European Continent, and the many conflicts over the years between the two countries have impeded the acquisition of equally fine collections of English art in Denmark. Total overview The publication is a catalogue raisonée, and brings English drawing art out of the shade by presenting a complete catalogue of all the 121 drawings in the Collection of Prints and Drawings. The book provides a number of striking insights into 350 years of British art. The five drawings from the hand of landscape artist John Constable (1776-1837) provide a fine insight into his artistic career, and there are no less than ten fully worked drawings by the great architect Robert Adam (1728-1792). There are five very dramatic drawings by Henry Fuseli, and two sexist drawings by Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827) clearly illustrate the great British satirical tradition. There are also extraordinary drawings by the Pre-Raphaelites Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898) and William Holman Hunt (1827-1910), to say nothing of an unusually lovely sheet from the great sculptor Henry Moore’s (1898-1986) sketch book These artists are all supported by interesting drawings by famous and not so famous artists, so that the strength of English drawing from the 17th century to the middle of the 20th century is clearly revealed. Royal Collection to open Henry VIII - A 500th Anniversary exhibition at Windsor Castle

A special exhibition to mark the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII’s accession to the throne will be shown at Windsor Castle, the monarch’s one-time home and final resting place. Henry VIII was proclaimed king on 23 April 1509, just before his 18th birthday, and reigned for almost 38 years, until his death in 1547. The exhibition explores the life of one of the most significant figures in the history of the English monarchy, bringing together treasures from the Royal Collection and the archives of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. The story of Henry VIII continues to generate widespread interest today. In popular tradition, he is often cast as a tyrant, famous for marrying six times and executing two of his wives, and for his split with papal authority in Rome and the dissolution of the monasteries. When Henry ascended the throne in 1509 he was a striking, auburn-haired youth, ‘much handsomer than any sovereign in Christendom’, and known for his great physical energy. A miniature of the king by Lucas Horenbout shows a lithe figure of 35 years old. The king enjoyed hunting and hawking at Windsor, and his hunting sword is included in the exhibition. Windsor Castle was the backdrop to a number of important events during Henry’s reign. In 1522 it was the scene of negotiations with the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, and in 1536 Henry met representatives of the Northern Rebellion at the Castle. Windsor was also the sometime home of the king’s illegitimate son, Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond. A charmingly informal miniature captures the duke at the age of 15, around the time of his marriage, and is the only certain portrait of Fitzroy, who died a few years after it was painted. One of the main entrances to Windsor Castle – now known as the Henry VIII Gate – was re-constructed around 1511, soon after Henry’s accession. The grant to make a gate in the Castle’s North Wall, signed by Henry, is included in the exhibition. St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, one of the jewels of late-medieval English architecture, was completed during Henry VIII’s reign. Jane Seymour, Henry’s third and favourite wife, was buried in the Chapel following her death in 1537, twelve days after the birth of the future Edward VI. Henry VIII himself was laid to rest there ten years later, requesting in his will that Jane be reburied with him. St George’s Chapel remains the seat of the Order of the Garter, the oldest surviving order of chivalry, to which Henry was appointed as a young child in around 1495. A magnificent register of the Order, known as the Black Book, was commissioned during Henry’s reign and is shown in the exhibition. Among the manuscript’s sumptuous illuminations are contemporary scenes of Henry VIII with the Garter knights. Henry VIII’s reign was characterised by religious debate and political struggle. The king was initially a staunch defender of Catholicism and attempted to suppress reform during the early years of his reign. He later engineered a complete split from Rome. In 1521 he published a scathing attack on Martin Luther in the Assertio Septem Sacramentorum (‘The Defence of the Seven Sacraments’) and, as a result, was awarded the title ‘Defender of the Faith’ by Pope Leo X. A signed copy of the Assertio is included in the exhibition, alongside copies of other key religious texts of the period and books from the king’s library. An exquisite miniature painting by Hans Holbein the Younger depicts Solomon receiving homage and gifts from the Queen of Sheba and is often interpreted as an allegory of Henry VIII accepting the submission of the Church. As such it is Holbein’s first known depiction of the king. Other treasures on display include Thomas Wriothesley’s Garter Book, which contains what is thought to be the earliest surviving view of the Opening of Parliament, with Henry VIII surrounded by his advisors. The court of the young Henry VIII attracted some of the most important European artists and scholars of the period. Among the highlights of the exhibition are a number of works by the German artist Hans Holbein the Younger. Holbein arrived in England in 1526 and had soon become the king’s painter, portraying many of the key personalities of Henry’s reign. Among the works by Holbein in the exhibition are a preparatory study for a portrait of Jane Seymour and a miniature of a lady thought to be Katherine Howard, Henry’s fifth wife, who was executed less than two years after her marriage to the king. Other figures depicted by Holbein include William Warham, Archbishop of Canterbury, and Sir Henry Guildford, Comptroller of the Household. Beautiful miniatures by Nicholas Hilliard, which originally formed part of the Bosworth Jewel, illustrate the Tudor line of succession from Henry VII to Edward VI. A poem written in the hand of Henry’s daughter, the future Elizabeth I, is shown alongside her portrait.

Parcours multimedia sur Picasso au Musée Granet

En prélude à son exposition Picasso-Cézanne, le Musée Granet propose un parcours multimédia sur l'oeuvre de Picasso

"Picasso et les métamorphoses" entend plonger le visiteur dans le processus créatif du peintre et se poursuivra pendant l'exposition Picasso-Cézanne.Celle-ci explorera la filiation revendiquée par Picasso avec celui qui est considéré comme le père de la peinture moderne, et aura lieu au musée Granet d'Aix-en-Provence du 25 mai au 27 septembre.
Proposée en espagnol, français et anglais, cette mise en bouche multimédia se veut didactique et intéractive. La visite débute par une présentation chronologique de l'oeuvre de Picasso dans une pièce sombre habillée de "tiges interactives" sur lesquelles sont inscrits les noms des oeuvres du peintre espagnol. En effleurant certaines de ces inscriptions illuminées, comme le célèbre Guernica, l'on déclenche la projection de l'oeuvre au mur.Le parcours se poursuit dans un jeu de sons et lumière dévoilant le lien entre les approches de Picasso et Cézanne et ce que doit le premier au second.Après un "sas des métamorphoses" transformant l'image des visiteurs selon l'approche conceptuelle de l'artiste, on découvre les étapes successives de travail de Picasso sur une même oeuvre, "sa façon de partir du réel pour le distordre" pour en "changer à la fois la forme et le sens".Un extrait de film montre l'artiste au travail: face à un miroir, il semble dessiner une fleur qui, en quelques traits de pinceaux, se transforme en femme. La déambulation conduit alors à un salon où les reproductions de dix autoportraits de Picasso font face à sept portraits de femmes assises dans un fauteuil, tous peints par l'artiste à des périodes et dans des styles différents.

Holland Art Cities 2009 - 2010 meeste kunst per km2

In 2009 en 2010 staan de vier grote steden van Nederland in het teken van kunst en cultuur tijdens het evenement ‘Holland Art Cities’. Voor dit evenement bundelen tien topmusea in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag en Utrecht hun krachten om een ongekend kunstaanbod te presenteren. Tevens zullen tijdens Holland Art Cities de Amsterdamse musea de Hermitage Amsterdam en het Stedelijk Museum hun (her)opening beleven.

Amsterdam en Holland Art Cities
Tijdens het themajaar 2009 Amsterdam Art City zet de Nederlandse hoofdstad haar museale schatten in de schijnwerpers. Aanleiding hiervoor is de opening van de Hermitage Amsterdam en het nieuwe Stedelijk Museum. Tijdens het themajaar biedt Amsterdam vele bijzondere tentoonstellingen. Deelnemende musea zijn het Van Gogh Museum, het Stedelijk Museum en het Rijksmuseum. Ook Het Koninklijk Paleis op de Dam heropent in juni 2009 na een restauratie van twee jaar zijn deuren.

Den Haag en Holland Art Cities
Gedurende Holland Art Cities presenteren het Gemeentemuseum en het Koninklijke Kabinet van schilderijen Mauritshuis diverse presentaties. Maar liefst negen speciale tentoonstellingen geven u een kijkje in de schatkamers van deze musea. U kunt onder meer werken van Picasso, Vermeer, Van Ruisdael en Michael Raedecker bewonderen.

Rotterdam en Holland Art Cities
Gedurende Holland Art Cities presenteren de Kunsthal Rotterdam en Museum Boijmans van Beuningen diverse presentaties. Maar liefst vijf speciale tentoonstellingen nemen u mee op een culturele ontdekkingstocht. U kunt onder meer 150 bijzondere werken die betrekking hebben op de grote geleerde Erasmus bezichtigen. En ondervinden hoe mode en kunst elkaar over en weer beïnvloeden.

Utrecht en Holland Art Cities
Gedurende Holland Art Cities presenteren het Centraal Museum en Museum Catharijneconvent diverse presentaties. Maar liefst zes speciale tentoonstellingen tonen u de kostbaarste schatten van deze musea. U kunt onder meer een grote internationale tentoonstelling over Rietveld bezoeken en een selectie van zeventiende-eeuwse topstukken uit de Hollandse Gouden Eeuw bekijken.

Huis van de Oude Muziek in Utrecht

Geertekerk - Utrecht

Utrecht krijgt een Huis van de Oude Muziek. Daarmee krijgt het gerenommeerde Festival Oude Muziek voor het eerst een vast podium in de Domstad. Dat maakte de Organisatie Oude Muziek vrijdag bekend.

Het huis wordt gevestigd in de monumentale Geertekerk. Het is een initiatief van de Organisatie Oude Muziek, De Nederlandse Bachvereniging en de eigenaar van de kerk, de Remonstrantse Gemeente Utrecht. De middeleeuwse kerk zal dan ook behouden blijven voor kerkelijke activiteiten.
Dit jaar wordt gewerkt aan plannen om de kerk te ontwikkelen tot een hoogwaardige, multifunctionele concertzaal voor oude muziek. De ruimte wordt ook geschikt voor activiteiten als repetities, workshops, seminars, lezingen en cursussen.

Il faut marcher dans la sculpture

Malgré ses presque 100 tonnes, elle a beaucoup bougé. Slat est une oeuvre du sculpteur américain Richard Serra, un des plus importants artistes d'aujourd'hui. Composée de cinq plaques d'acier de près de 20 tonnes chacune et d'une hauteur de 11 mètres, Slat est arrivée à la Défense en 1984. Mais les graffitis et l'évolution du quartier d'affaires, en bordure de Paris, ont beaucoup fait souffrir la sculpture. Elle a dû être démontée pour être restaurée. Elle est de retour, depuis le 15 décembre 2008, au carrefour de la Folie, au pied de la Grande Arche de la Défense.

L'oeuvre, mise en place par l'Etablissement public pour l'aménagement de la Défense, est, selon Richard Serra, "un parallélogramme qui, lorsqu'on le pénètre, se transforme pour donner la sensation d'un espace triangulaire. Elle s'ouvre et se ferme à mesure de la marche".

Beaufort 03

Van 23 maart tot 4 oktober 2009 zal in de tien kustgemeenten de derde editie plaatvinden van Beaufort 03, de triënnale voor hedendaagse kunst aan zee. Verspreid over de tien gemeenten krijgen 29 kunstenaars, waaronder negen Belgen, ruimte om zich uit te leven.
Net als tijdens de vorige edities mogen ze opnieuw zelf hun locatie kiezen. Ook zal het kunstenfestival opnieuw bestaan uit een binnen- en buitententoonstelling. De werken die buiten staan, zijn verspreid over de hele kustlijn.
In het Kunstmuseum aan Zee in Oostende zal een overzicht worden gegeven van kunstwerken die geïnspireerd werden door de Belgische kust, gemaakt tussen 1830 en 1958. Dat is de periode waarin de autosnelweg Oostende-Brussel werd gerealiseerd. Ook de 29 deelnemende kunstenaars zullen erbij worden betrokken.
In vier kustgemeenten zullen randtentoonstellingen plaatsvinden rond de kunstenaars Marcel Broodthaers (Knokke-Heist), Frans Masereel (Blankenberge), Raoul Servais (Bredene) en Alberto Piovano (De Panne). Het budget voor Beaufort 03 bedraagt 4,5 miljoen euro. Conservator van de derde editie is Philip Vandenbossche. In 2006 was Beaufort 02 (2006 Beaufort) goed voor circa 750.000 bezoekers. Nationaal Historisch Museum - Arnhem

Ontwerp van het nieuwe Nationaal Historisch Museum te Arnhem

Canontoren.
Het Nationaal Historisch Museum komt te liggen op de Waterberg in Arnhem, tegenover het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, aan een gezamenlijk plein. Francine Houben van Mecanoo architecten ontwierp een ‘Canontoren’, gebaseerd op de nationale canon van de geschiedenis van Nederland. Het ontwerp van Mecanoo combineert toekomst met verleden, futurisme met traditie. Het gebouw bestaat uit een stapeling van zes ringen rondom een centrale kegelvormige vide met lichtkoepel. Het sculpturale gebouw krijgt een stalen constructie, maar is juist bekleed met traditioneel baksteen. Het is een ode aan de Nederlandse bouwcultuur, die gebruik maakt van de klei in het Nederlandse rivierenlandschap.
Bovenverdieping van Nederland.
In de Canontoren wordt de geschiedenis van Nederland verbeeld met behulp van de modernste technieken. Niet alleen voorwerpen maar ook multimedia spelen daarbij een belangrijke rol. Het 10.000 m2 tellende museumgebouw belichaamt en versterkt het museale concept. Het Nationaal Historisch Museum telt vijftig canonvensters, die verdeeld zijn over vijf ringen. In de eerste ring wordt een beeld geschetst van de prehistorie en de Romeinse tijd, terwijl de 20e eeuw in de vijfde ring ligt vanwaar je uitkijkt over het Nederland van vandaag de dag. De verspringende vloeren bieden van boven naar beneden zicht op de belangrijkste objecten en de dynamiek van de geschiedenis door de eeuwen heen. De zesde ring – de Bovenverdieping van Nederland – heeft een forumfunctie en is uitgerust met een auditorium en een radio- en televisiestudio. Vanaf de Bovenverdieping heb je bovendien een uniek uitzicht. Net over de bomen heen zie je de historische gebouwencollectie van het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum liggen: een Delftse windkorenmolen uit 1700, een Gelderse boerderij uit 1771, een historische melkfabriek en bakkerij.
De Gang van je Voorouders.
De toren rijst op uit een basement dat direct aan het plein ligt. Hier liggen het restaurant, de mediatheek, de educatieruimte, een wisselexpositieruimte en de museumwinkel. Optioneel is een ondergrondse gang - de Gang van je Voorouders – die van het Nationaal Historisch Museum naar het HollandRama van het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum leidt. In dit multimediatheater is een voorstelling te zien over mensen die van woonplaats zijn veranderd, regionaal en internationaal, van Friezen die een eeuw geleden naar Amsterdam trokken tot Turken en Marokkanen die naar Nederland kwamen.
De opening van het Nationaal Historisch Museum is gepland in op 30 maart 2011.
Mecanoo architecten ontwierp eerder het entreepaviljoen en HollandRama van het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, dat opende in 2000.

Het CCTV gebouw - Ontwerp van Rem Koolhaas

China's staatszender CCTV is niet blij. De omroep had een nieuw hoofdkantoor nodig en koos daar het spectaculaire ontwerp voor uit van de Nederlandse architect Rem Koolhaas. Zes jaar en 750 miljoen euro later is het gebouw bijna af. Het is qua vloeroppervlak het op twee na grootste ter wereld. De inwoners van Peking lijken niet onder de indruk. Voor hen is het gebouw niet meer dan een Grote Onderbroek.

Chinezen doen niet ingewikkeld over bijnamen. Lijk je als gebouw op een onderbroek, hoe spectaculair je ook bent, dan heet je voortaan Onderbroek. Oké, Grote Onderbroek.

Berlinale 2009 - Homage and Honorary Bear for Maurice Jarre

Koninklijk Paleis te Amsterdam heropent in de zomer

Het Paleis op de Dam

Na een restauratie van enkele jaren opent het Koninklijk Paleis op de Dam te Amsterdam van juni tot september 2009 zijn deuren voor het publiek. Behalve het paleis zelf is dan ook een tentoonstelling over de Italiaanse architect Vincenzo Scamozzi te bezichtigen. Scamozzi had een grote invloed op Jacob van Campen, de architect die het Paleis op de Dam ontwierp. Op de tentoonstelling zullen maquettes en tekeningen van Scamozzi te zien zijn.

Museumplein - Amsterdam

Vormgeven aan het Culturele Hart van Amsterdam

Rond het Museumplein staan ingrijpende veranderingen op stapel. Het Stedelijk Museum en Rijksmuseum zijn aan het verbouwen en verplaatsen hun ingangen naar de zijde van het plein. Ook het Van Gogh Museum en het Concertgebouw hebben verbouwingsplannen. De verwachting is dat hierdoor het aantal bezoekers groeit van 3,5 tot 5 miljoen per jaar. Door de aanleg van de Noord/Zuidlijn zal een groot deel van hen straks het plein vanuit een andere richting naderen.

Hiervoor moet het Museumplein en de omgeving worden aangepast.
