The greatest classical music festival on earth returns to London's Royal Albert Hall.
Around 170 events featuring the world's best artists and composers are packed into the 8-week BBC Proms's schedule for 2009.
For the first time this year, the number of concerts has reached 100.
What are the Proms?
"Proms" is short for Promenade concert: informal and inexpensive concerts where Promenaders ("Prommers") pay just £5 for a ticket.
Up to 900 Prommers can stand in the central Arena at London's Royal Albert Hall, and a further 500 can stand, sit or recline in the Gallery.
